This page is dedicated to the continuing miracle recovery of Eugene Leid who after being in a violent motorcycle accident was transported to the Reading, PA hospital. Upon arrival he was considered DOA and placed on life support with no hope of recovery. A huge prayer effort came forth from his family and friends determined to see him completely healed and return to his ministry calling and his family. The events have been documented on his Facebook page and highlighted here for all who are interested in following his story.

Everyday has been a new miracle. the latest is the video showing Eugene moving his left arm and opening his eyes. See below for the video link.
***************
Today we were at Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital to visit Eugene Leid. He is obviously improving every day. I told him I want to take a video of what he is doing right now so the people that can’t come to visit him can still see the progress. He began to move his arm for me while I video recorded it. Here is a short 4 minute video of Eugene Leid moving on his own and opening his eyes! Praise the Lord! Keep on praying and believing with us for a complete recovery. “Click here to view video”
Also a note from his wife Rosie: Everyone is welcome to join us at Bryn Mawr, Sunday afternoon at 3pm for a time of Praise and Worship! Bring your lawn chairs, a song, a word or a prayer! The address is 414 Paoli Pike, Malvern, Pa. As you come in the main drive, the Laurel house is to your right, we will be across the drive from the house.Visiting hours are 4-9pm Mon-Friday and 1-9pm on Sat and Sun. Looking forward to seeing everyone! ~Rosie

Eugene Leid was taken to the emergency department in Paoli Hospital. He was having some difficulty breathing. They are running tests to rule out complications. At this time they think he probably just aspirated.
Aspirated means to inhale fluid or a foreign body into the bronchi and lungs, often after vomiting.
They are planning to keep Eugene in Paoli Hospital at least overnight. He is being moved to room 3209.
We are still planning on having the 3:00 PM Sunday afternoon church service at Bryn Mawr. If Eugene is still in Paoli Hospital at that time we can go visit him after the church service. It is only 3.5 miles away.
UPDATE
August 19, 2010 5:13pm
Eugene Leid has now moved out of ICU. They moved him to room 321. This is still in Paoli Hospital. Go to the south elevators and go to the 3rd floor.Light of Hope Ministries
Visiting hours are 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
His nurse said his vital signs are normal. They are not giving him any antibiotics anymore.
She said they will likely keep him here a few more days for observation then he will go back to Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital.
Thank you for your prayers.

Dear Precious Friends and Prayer Warriors:
Here is a praise update on Eugene Leid who is now semi-aware in the Bryn Mawr Trauma Recovery Unity.
Don
“When I got to Bryn Mawr, Nick (Genie’s nurse) was all excited! Genie had just been responding to him. Nick asked him to blink once and he did, and asked him to blink twice and he did. He said they were doing it for awhile consistently! He said Genie was also flinching when a hand was suddenly put in his face. He will also reach up with his left hand to remove a hand at his trachea! Purposeful Movement!!!! It’s what we’ve been waiting for! If the nurses are excited, I’m definitely excited, too!”
Thank you for your prayers. Rosie Leid – wife of Eugene

Update October 24 – 10:43pm by Eugene’s wife Rosie
I had an awesomely wonderful day! It started off at Life Gate in Elizabethtown (sooo blessed to have gotten to know you all!) and ended watching Extreme Home Makeover, which several friends were involved in. And in between…..I got a hug from Genie!!!!! We took him out for about an hour, but while Pat and I were getting him into his chair, he sat on the edge of the bed and when I gave him a hug, he closed his eyes and put his arm around me. It wasn’t a squeeze, but oh, it felt so good to be in his arms again! He was so wide awake all afternoon! And he was trying to talk! His mouth was moving and when you got up close you could hear tiny sounds and feel the puffs of breath that will one day be words spoken aloud!
God bless you,
