The Unpardonable Sin
This is the sin that is described as blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
Blasphemy is defined as speaking evil of or against God.
Jesus called out this sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit when the scribes said that Jesus was casting demons out by Beelzebub or the chief devil. (Mark 3:22 – 30; Matthew 12:24 – 32; Luke 11:17-23)
1Corinthians 12:3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and [that] no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
Mark 3:28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith so ever they shall blaspheme: Mark 3:29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:
Matthew 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. Matthew 12:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
Luke 12:10 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.
Hebrews 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, Hebrews 6:5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, Hebrews 6:6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame
1John 5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
We need to discern who to pray for as directed by the word of God.
Therefore when praying for those in authority over us we should not chose to pray for those that blaspheme the Holy Spirit. Looking around at many decisions that are currently being made or pursued by government leaders today, we see these leaders embracing blasphemous decisions against the Holy Spirit. They are blaspheming through politically correct decisions making same sex marriage legal or calling homosexual lifestyles okay. The same goes for abortion and separation of church and state. It’s time to let go and let God.
